English writing is significant for the junior middle school student in English teaching, it is also a skill that must be acquired by a junior school student in the learning process. Writing ability is an embodiment of a junior middle school student’s comprehensive skills. Junior middle school is the stage when a student’s writing ability begins to form. Teaching in this stage will have a direct influence on the overall levels of English learning, so the junior middle school English teachers should pay much more attention to it. There are requirements that the junior middle school student must meet it in New English Curriculum Standard for Writing (revised in 2011) in English teaching: 1) collect and prepare the writing materials on the basis of the English writing requirement; 2) independently draw up the passages, messages, etc. and modify them under the guidance of the teacher; 3) give a simple description of a person or an event; 4) write a simple passage or operate instruction based on the picture or table. According to the requirements for English writing in Academic Examination for Junior Middle School Graduates of Henan Province, writing focuses on the examining of a student’s ability to communicate for information, reproduce the life experience, describe the things around and express the opinions or ideas by using what he or she has learned, which examines not only a student’s ability to use vocabulary and syntax, but also his or her competence of logical thinking, language organization, discourse and integration. ,源Z自L751:文,论/文]网[www.751com.cn
Writing is an integral part of the Senior Middle School English Entrance Examination (SMSEE) and comprises a significant proportion, the percentage of which is generally 15% and has a growing tendency. However, English writing has always been a weak link in the teaching, and also a big problem for the students. Compared with the other three skills, the students’ writing ability is quite low, making this or that mistake while writing. Writing is the important and difficult point in English teaching and to improve the students’ writing ability is becoming increasingly important, which is of great practical significance. So many linguists and English teachers both at home and abroad have been probing into the methods and strategies to develop the students’ writing ability, which include the mistake analyzing method, Krashen’s input theory (126), Swain’s output theory (30), Michael Lewis’ lexical approach (98), Wallace Douglas’ process-based method ( 58 ) and so on.
