Abstract Proverbs are language structures of stability both in meaning and structure, They come from daily life and are popular among the people on the civil. at the same time, the meaning of expressions, phrases and sentences are relatively intact and stable. They use simple and common words reflecting profound truth. English writer Francis Bacon once said: Genius wit and spirit of a nation are discovered by their proverbs. English and Chinese proverbs as carriers of the two cultures show that geographical environment and climate, customs and habits, the living environment, historical background are different. So when we in the proverb translation, we have to think about the specific culture, life background. This thesis is based on the studies of geographical environment and climate, religious beliefs, customs and habits, moral values and historical allusion to set forth the influence of cultural differences on proverb translation. 67948

摘要谚语是一种在意义和结构上都具有稳定性的语言结构。谚语结构简洁,内容丰富,来源于生活并在民间广为流传的一种意义相对完整稳定的词，短语，或句子,它是用简单通俗的话来反映深刻的道理。英国作家培根说过: 一个民族的天赋,智慧和精神都从他们的谚语中表现出来。英汉谚语作为两种文化的载体，由于它们地理环境与气候，风俗习惯，生活环境，历史背景等的不同，在谚语翻译中，不得不考虑所涉及的谚语的特定文化,生活背景。本文将从地理环境与气候，宗教信仰,风俗习惯,道德观念,历史典故五个方面阐述英汉文化差异对谚语翻译的影响。

Language is the carrier of culture and a part of culture ;it can convey the idea by radio, print or Internet.It plays an very important role in culture, at the same time, It also influenced and restricted by the culture.Therefore, inter-lingual translation is not only the transmission of two cultures, but also the exchange of two languages. Words have significance only use in specific cultural. Every country has its unique culture, Eastern and western people have different customs and habits, religious beliefs, moral values, history so that the cultural differences are bound to exist, It is these cultural differences that we can see the formation of language has great different on the countries of the world.But proverbs as the essence of language called the "concentrated culture”,They are like mirrors, vividly reflect a nation in different historical periods of social system,religion, philosophy of life,historical tradition and distinctive national features.By this mirror,we can learn that Chinese and Western culture have different religious beliefs,customs,moral values and other aspects of the specific differences.Understanding these cultural differences that are essential for us to have deep and accurate understanding of English and Chinese proverbs,using the correct and reasonable translation method has great significance.
