3.1 Comparative Analysis of Culture-bound Words in Subtitles
Translator’s subjectivity is manifested almost everywhere in the whole process of translation,including the understanding, “invading” the source text out of his cultural consciousness and making compensation in target language. Out of different translation proposes, the translation strategies are also different. When translating this masterpiece, how to deal with the dramatic difference between source and target language cultures becomes a key issue. To solve this problem, there are two means. One is foreignization that considers source languages or readers as the center while the other is domestication that regards target languages or readers as the center (Wu Diming, 2011: 60-64). Below discussion will cite some examples to indicate translators’ different strategies from this perspective.
