    This thesis is made up of six parts, and to be more specific, it is arranged as the followings: Chapter one is Introduction. This chapter gives a brief presentation of the whole thesis. It reviews the background of the study, then go on stating the importance of the study, and at last presents the thesis’s whole frame. The next part is Literature Review. This chapter presents related theories which include Krashen’s Input Hypothesis and Swain’s Output Hypothesis. In addition, this chapter also presents Socrates Method and Confucius’s thinking. Chapter three is Classroom Questioning. It includes the definition of classroom questioning, the classification of classroom questioning and the functions of classroom questioning. Chapter four is the Problems Existing in Classroom Questioning. Chapter five is Classroom Questioning Strategies. It introduces several strategies to help teachers improve classroom questioning. The last part is Conclusion. It reviews what we have discussed in this thesis and make a conclusion about it. 

    2. Literature Review

    The famous ancient Greek educator Socrates adopt many ways such as making dialogues and questioning to stimulate students’ thinking in teaching process. Questioning is an awesome teaching technique. Socratic advocates that teachers should teach students knowledge by asking and answering. That is called Socratic Method. He never tells students the conclusion directly. Instead, he guides students to acquire conclusion by themselves by comparing. At modern time, it still has a great importance. 

    Socratic thinks that the goal of education is to know oneself to acquire knowledge and finally become a wise person. The task of educators is not to fabricate and spread truth but to guide and help educatees find truth. Therefore, he supports inner education idea in teaching process and adopt the way of asking and answering to guide students to think to achieve the goal of education. In fact, this method is a teaching method in which students have a discussion with teachers to reveal contradiction, overcome contradiction, gain knowledge and finally foster abilities. Socratic Method is also a kind of art which helps students correct inaccurate ideas and develop new thinking.
