4. Archetypal Images in The Happy Prince and Other Fairy Tales
4.1 The Definition of the Archetypal Image
Carl Jung used the archetypal image to describe the archetype which presented itself to the form of consciousness, but Carl Jung has been trying to distinguish between the archetype and the archetypal image. Archetype itself is unconscious, we cannot understand it through our conscious, but we can understand the existence and significance of the archetype through the archetypal image. So, we can put the archetypal image as a symbolic expression of the archetype, and we can understand the archetype through its performance and the performance of the symbol. This part, I would like to analyze the archetypal images in his fairy tales to show us an unbalanced world and the way he expressed his pursuit for a wonderful world.
