摘要加强创新型英语人才的培养是21世纪新《高等学校英语专业英语教学大纲》的突出特点之一,由此,培养学生的创新能力成为新世纪高校英语教学改革所面临的重要挑战。泛读课程是英语专业基础阶段教学的一门必修课,在课程教学中培养创新能力更有助于英语专业学生阅读能力的提高,从而提高学生对语言的实际运用能力。本论文在对英语专业学生创新能力内涵进行分析以及对南京理工大学英语专业泛读教学现状进行调查的基础上,以建构主义理论为基础,提出了南京理工大学英语专业泛读课程的教学新路径。9032
本文的最终目的是通过培养泛读课程中英语专业学生的创新能力,使教师和学生认识创新能力的重要性,从而探索如何更有效的教学和学习,最终达到提高教学质量以及学生学习能力的目的。

Title On the Cultivation of English Majors’ Innovative Capability in the Teaching of Extensive Reading
—A New Perspective in Reform of Teaching English Majors at Nanjing University of Science and Technology
Abstract
Enhancing the cu1tivation of creative Eng1ish ta1ents is one of the distinguishing features of the new Teaching Syllabus for Eng1ish Majors in China. Therefore cultivating students’ innovation capability is a crucia1 challenge confronting Eng1ish teaching reforms at the tertiary level in the new century. Extensive Reading is a compulsory course in English major's basic learning, and cultivating the ability of innovation during the teaching is much more useful in improving students' reading skills, thereby to improve students' ability to use language. Based upon the theoretical thinking of innovation capability,this paper advances a new teaching approach for Extensive Reading at Nanjing University of Science and Technology(NJUST) , with the survey of the present teaching for English majors and theories of Constructivism.
The ultimate purpose of this paper is to make teachers and students have cognizance of the importance of innovation capability through the cultivation of innovation capability in Extensive Reading, to explore how to teach and learn more effectively, finally to improve the quality of teaching and students learning abilities.

1 Introduction
In the 2lst century which is full of competitions and challenges, the innovation capability is the embodiment of comprehensive strength of a country or a nation, and a country or a nation's innovation ability means the innovation ability of talents in the final analysis. Therefore, how to cultivate students' innovation capability has become a significant issue of our country's higher education reform.
