Abstract As a literature genre with a long history, prose usually has a profound artistic conception. So while translating, we should convey not only the ideological contents, but the original artistic flavor. In recent years, the importance, meaning and translatability of artistic flavor have become burning issues for the field of translation, the thesis will also do some research on those hot topics.42625
Artistic flavor is the core of prose translation. And the view is also supported by many translators and scholars. So the significance of artistic flavor cannot ignored. Although the traditional aesthetics thinks artistic flavor has inexpressible connotation, the author of this study holds the same opinion with the theory of “artistic flavor” ,which proposed by Liu Shicong, the artistic flavor has its operable factors.
With such awareness in mind, the author employs “artistic flavor” from sound and rhythm, artistic conception and atmosphere and inpidualized language to do a comparative study of two English versions of Moonlight over the Lotus Pond translated by Zhu Chunshen and Yang Xianyi. This research shows that from the perspective of artistic flavor, Zhu Chunshen’s version appears superior to Yang Xianyi’s in diction, sentence structure, rhetoric devices, images, emotion and so on. This study makes some contributions to the future research on prose translation.

摘要散文作为一种历史悠久的文学体裁,往往具有很深邃的意境。因此在翻译散文的时候,译者不仅要传达原文的思想内容,更重要的是传达原文的韵。而关于“韵在翻译中的价值”、“何为韵”、“原作的韵是否可译”这些问题,翻译界一直有所争议。本篇论文也会对此做出相关调查与研究。
韵是散文翻译的核心,这点得到许多翻译家的肯定,所以韵的翻译价值不容小嘘。尽管传统美学认为韵有“不可言传”的内涵,但本文作者认为,韵虽然不能完全再现,却有其可翻译的成分。这一观点也与刘士聪所提出的“韵”说理论相吻合。
基于这一认识,本文以“韵说”为理论框架,从“声音与节奏”、“意境和氛围”和“个性化话语方式”三方面入手,对比研究朱纯深和杨宪益夫妇所翻译的《荷塘月色》两个译本。研究结果发现,从韵说角度对比两个译本,朱纯深在选词、句式结构、修辞、意象和情感等方面的翻译技巧都优于杨宪益。本研究对以后的散文韵翻译提供一定的参考价值。
